information about you might be misinformed if the directory isn’t completed
carefully. |

Aligning what is
reported on the LPR is critical to reducing errors on SCRS records. The LPR
had to be opened numerous times for data corrections. Working to align those
efforts next year should help improve data quality in the second year of
submissions. |

Every year, we
hear of a school or district that had their school, district, or state entry
dates inadvertently reset to the first day of school during the SIS rollover
to move all students up a grade level. To safeguard against this, you may
even want to pull a report out of your SIS that has school district and state
entry dates for your students before starting the rollover process to
archive this data. |

Graduation/Drop
Summary Report: We saw a lot of schools reporting students as graduating with
diplomas but entire classes of graduates had “unknown post-graduation plans”
on their Graduation Drop-Out Summary Report for Post Graduation Plans If 8 or
9 is re ported in D28, you should be reporting 1-7 on D30. It should be rare
that students are EXITed with an 8 in both fields. |

When 5th
graders finish and move to the 6th grade for middle school, the
matriculation code should be used rather than a transfer exit code. |

We had a case
where a district sent EOYA records but failed to mark any of their students
as virtual, it impacted the virtual funding formula resulting in a loss of
funding of over $150,000. This is just one recent example why all relevant
data on all students should be reported on all KIDS records. Reviewing the
reports carefully would have avoided this costly funding mistake. |
